Event info

Beloved Icelandic singer-songwriter Júníus Meyvant will be celebrating the release of his album Guru, which came out in October of last year, with his most significant and most ambitious concert yet. The show will span Júníus’ entire career, which includes four LPs and two EPs.

Hailing from the Westman Islands, Unnar Gísli Sigurmundsson stumbled upon a beat-up guitar at his parent’s house in his early twenties and started noodling around. He started releasing music under the moniker Júníus Meyvant in 2014 with his single Color Decay, chosen as the song of the day by Seattle radio station KEXP.
Since then, he has received renown in Iceland and worldwide, with songs such as Signals, Gold Laces, and Ain’t Gonna Let You Drown.

Júníus Meyvant’s afflicted, concise, melodic, and rich take on freaky folk pop has a highly familiar and soulful feel and a hint of attitude. Júníus’ broad sound palette is all-embracing and made up of his sultry voice, sizzling guitars, and pummeling rhythms topped with washes of horns, synths, and mellotron.

World-class musicians will join him on stage in one of Reykjavík’s most beautiful concert halls, Eldborg in Harpa, and the show will highlight and embrace the intimacy and warmth for which his music is known for.
