Event info

The album Moonbow, with works by Gunnar Andreas Kristinsson, was released on American label Sono Luminus last April. It’s his second album, the first to be released on a major label. The album has been extremely well received by critics from all over the world and was recently shortlisted for a Grammy Award. A release event has been on the agenda for a while but the realisation has had its share of delays due to the pandemic. On March 8th the wait will finally be over when a concert dedicated to Moonbow will take place in Norðurljós - Recital Hall of Harpa, as part of Dark Music Days.

At the concert Caput Ensemble will perform Patterns IIb and Duo Harpverk, together with bass clarinetist Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson, will perform PASsaCAgLia B.. The latter work is a duo version of an eponymous trio from the album (PASsaCAgLia B). Other works from the album will be played in a surround sound system, the title track Moonbow performed by Siggi String Quartet and the larger ensemble pieces Roots and Sisyfos performed by Caput Ensemble (the latter ensemble work also including clarinetist Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson). Sono Luminus specializes in 9.1 fully immersive audio recordings, placing the instruments and sound sources around the microphone array, giving the listener an opportunity to experience the music as if placed in the center of the ensemble.
