Karlakór Eyjafjarðar Men's Choir performs music that the Ingimar and Finnur Eydal bands used to play and filled the dance club, Sjallinn in Akureyri in the sixties and seventies.

The music is arranged for male choir performance, either with or without a band and soloists. With the choir is a group of well-known musicians who know the story and young and aspiring musicians that got involved in this project and contribute their ideas and emphases to the performance.

The guest of honor will be Helena Eyjólfsdóttir (Finnur’s widow), a well-known singer in the Ingimar and Finnur Eydal bands, and Grímur Sigurðsson who was a long time member in the Ingimar Eydal band. The history of the bands, ranging from the band Atlantic to the last years in Sjallinn, will be taken into account and looked at it in its broadest and most varied form. Even though the brothers were best known for their dance bands, jazz was submerged, over, and all around.

The choir consist of 36 amateur singers from Eyjafjarðarsveit, Akureyri and a local band, which includes:

Valmar Väljaots, conductor, piano, keyboard, accordion, violin.
Arni Ketill Fridriksson, drums (played with both Ingimar and Finnur)
Eiríkur Bóasson, bass
Brynleifur Hallsson, guitar (played with Ingimar and Finnur)
The choir's conductor is Guðlaugur Viktorsson

Narrator of the concert is Gestur Einar Jónasson.

Two young musicians, Haukur Gröndal clarinet and saxophone player and

Sarah Blandon vocalist, will also be joining the group and setting their mark on the performance.

Have fun!
