A Montana teen’s future is hobbled by her needy, PTSD-afflicted war-veteran father in this accomplished debut feature.

The push-pull between co-dependence and youthful yearning fuels a drama about a high schooler and her opioid-addicted father, starring Camila Morrone and James Badge Dale. Morrone is best known for the film Never Goin’ Back, and played Bruce Willis’ daughter in Eli Roth‘s remake of Death Wish.

Mickey and the Bear originally premiered at the 2019 South by Southwest Film Festival where it was nominated for best narrative feature, and it also stars Calvin Demba (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”), Ben Rosenfield (“Boardwalk Empire”), and Rebecca Henderson (“Russian Doll”).
