Piano virtuoso Albert Mamriev's concert is organized by the Richard Wagner Society in Iceland and part of the Wagner Days in conjunction with the performance of Wagner’s Die Walküre in Harpa.

Albert Mamriev was born in Dagestan and began studying piano with his father, Jankel Mamriev. He later studied with Alexander Bakulov and Sergei Dorensky in Moscow and with Arie Vardi in Tel Aviv and Hanover.

After winning first price at the International Piano Competition in Madrid in 1998, Albert Mamriev has established himself as one of the most versatile pianists of his generation. The complete recording of Wagner-Liszt Transcriptions, and the World Premiere of Ami Maayani’s Piano Concerto with Beijing Symphony Orchestra grows out of Albert Mamriev's fascination with the stylistic richness and diversity of piano music written between the periods of Late Romanticism and the Avant Garde, and his enjoyment of the technical and interpretive challenges it presents.

Throughout his career, Albert Mamriev has won numerous awards and has performed around the world, with many of the world's leading orchestras. Albert Mamriev is a teacher in demand and has served on jury boards in numerous international piano competitions. In 2009 he founded the Neue Sterne International Piano Competition in Wernigerode (www.neuesterne.org) and in 2010 the Klaviersterne International Festival in Könings Wusterhausen. In 2014 Alberg Mamriev founded the Young Piano Stars International Competition in Königs Wusterhausen (www.youngpianostars.org)

He has also established himself as a conductor, e.g. with symphony orchestras in Germany and Romania including the Craiova Philharmonic, Potsdam Symphony, and Leipzig Philharmonic. Since 2017 Mamriev has held the position of Rector and Professor at the Neue Sterne Music Academy in Hanover.
