Night Songs - from Nordal to Nordal
Dómkórinn Cathedral Choir performs Icelandic contemporary choral works.

It is often argued with absolute certainty that music is inherited. One might say that Dómkórinn Cathedral Choir‘s concert in Hallgrímskirkja on Sunday November 24th is proof of that theory. The programme consists of choral pieces by Jón Nordal, one of Iceland‘s greatest composers who has made a significant contribution to Icelandic music history, and two of his grandsons, Hjalti and Thorkell Nordal, who are taking their first steps as composers.

Dómkórinn Cathedral Choir will be joined by singers Harpa Ósk Björnsdóttir soprano and Jón Svavar Jósefsson counter tenor, as well as Inga Rós Ingólfsdóttir cello, Frank Aarnink percussion and Björn Steinar Sólbergsson organ. Conductor is Kari Thormar.

Dómkórinn Cathedral Choir has held numerous concerts both in Iceland and abroad, most recently in Salzburg where the choir won awards in an international choir competition. The choir‘s repertoir ranges from Brahms‘ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bach‘s Christmas Oratorio, Mozart‘s Requiem, Händel‘s Messiah and Requiems of both Duruflé and Fauré, to name just a few.
