Violin virtuoso Joshua Bell, with pianist Alessio Bax
The world renowned violinist, Joshua Bell, together with pianist Alessio Bax, will be giving a unique recital in Harpa´s Eldborg hall on October 20th 2019.

Mr. Bell‘s last appearance in Iceland was two years ago, when he performed as a soloist and conducted the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in an unforgettable concert which got top reviews. Joshua Bell is without a doubt one of the worlds most renowned violinists today and  leading papers have raved about his performances for decades;

Together with Joshua Bell is pianist Alessio Bax, who in the respected music magazine Gramophone is described as follows:

Joshua Bell
With a career spanning over thirty years as a soloist, chamber musician, recording artist, conductor and director, Joshua Bell is one of the most celebrated violinists of his era. Since 2011, Bell has served as Music Director of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, succeeding Sir Neville Marriner, who formed the orchestra in 1958.

Bell’s interests range from repertoire hallmarks to commissioned works, including Nicholas Maw’s Violin Concerto, for which Bell received a Grammy® award. Committed to expanding music’s cultural impact, Bell has collaborated with peers including Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Chris Botti, Frankie Moreno, and Josh Groban. In Spring 2019, Bell joins cellist Steven Isserlis and pianist Jeremy Denk for a ten-city American trio tour.

Bell performs on the 1713 Huberman Stradivarius violin, with a François Tourte 18th-Century bow and accompanying Joshua Bell on the stage inn Eldborg is the world renowned pianist Alessio Bax.

Alessio Bax
Alessio Bax graduated with top honors at the record age of 14 from the conservatory of Bari, his hometown in Italy, where his teacher was Angela Montemurro.

He catapulted to prominence with First Prize wins at both the Leeds and Hamamatsu International Piano Competitions, and is now a familiar face on five continents, not only as a recitalist and chamber musician, but also as a concerto soloist who has appeared with more than 100 orchestras, including the London, Royal, and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestras, the Boston, Dallas, Cincinnati, Sydney, and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestras, and the NHK Symphony in Japan, collaborating with such eminent conductors as Marin Alsop, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Andrew Davis, Sir Simon Rattle, Yuri Temirkanov, and Jaap van Zweden.
