The Wacken Metal Battle will be fought at the fantastic live venue Húrra, on Saturday 11. May

Headliner: UNE MISÈRE.

This year 6 bands will compete in the battle for the main prize: Representing Iceland this summer at the Wacken Metal Battle finals at the Wacken Open Air, the world's biggest heavy metal festival, along with 29 other nations. The winner of the Icelandic preselection will be chosen by an international jury, along with votes from the audience.

Headlining the evening are current WMB Iceland champs Une Misère, who have since winning WMB Iceland and playing Wacken in 2017, been kicking up a major musical storm both domestically and abroad. After finishing in the top 5 at the finals at Wacken 2017, they signed a worldwide record deal with the biggest independent metal label in the world NUCLEAR BLAST as well as a booking contract with the highly respected DOOMSTAR BOOKINGS.

Following that, the band got booked to play numerous gigs outside of their home country. Last year, they played e.g. 3 sets at the immensely respected ROADBURN FESTIVAL in The Netherlands and earlier this year they delivered a stunning performance at the EUROSONIC NOORDERSLAG showcase festival in The Netherlands. The concert schedule for this coming summer is also jam-packed. The band will among others be performing at Germany’s SUMMER BREEZE festival, Slovenia’s MetalDays Festival and they have been booked to open up for none other than giants Lamb of God in The Netherlands, as well as going on a European tour with DECAPITATED and ABORTED. Not bad for a band that is just a couple of years old! First stop though: Performing a blistering set at WMB at Húrra on May 11th, where they will crown their successors!

Opening the night, another special guest will perform, newcomer band Blóðmör who won the biggest music competition in Iceland just last April, MÚSIKTILRAUNIR (translated as Musical Experiments). Tauted for having a strong influence from Icelandic legendary band HAM these young boys (aged 16-18) sing in Icelandic about child molesters and feet corn! It doesn’t get better than that!

The audience will also have some voting power, so it is important to show up early and support your favorites. Voting ballots will be handed out at the entrance.
