Event info

The Blueberry Music Festival anniversary weekend begins on Thursday August 16th in Ólafsfjörður Church. The festival commences with a lively program presented by the violinists Páll Palomares and Vera Panitch. Páll and Vera hold leading positions with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra following their soloist studies in Denmark, where Vera grew up.

The concert features the great Chaconne by Bach and solo works by Fritz Kreisler and Manuel de Falla. The pianist, Eva Þyri Hilmarsdóttir, joins Páll and Vera in works by Piotr Tchaikovsky and Pablo de Sarasate for violin and piano. Páll and Vera played a charming duo program on the Icelandic State Radio last Christmas Eve. This time they tackle the complex musical language of Béla Bartók. Along with Eva Þyri, they also perform melodies by Shostakovich that are rare occurences on concert programs.
