The annual Blueberry Music Festival in Ólafsfjörður, Fjallabyggð, will now be held for the 20th time as bilberries and Iceland moss become ripe for picking. The Icelandic song tradition is the 2018 festival's anniversary theme. Icelandic songs have enriched the festival ever since it first took place in Ólafsfjörður.

The anniversary weekend begins at Ólafsfjörður Church on Thursday, August 16th, when violinists Páll Palomares and Vera Panitch perform with pianist Eva Þyrí Hilmarsdóttir. Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason will travel up north to Ólafsfjörður church on Friday August 17, to conduct the Blueberry Festival Gala evening. This concert features renowned tenor Kristján Jóhannsson. On closing night at the Cultural House Tjarnarborg, the popular northern duo Hundur í óskilum gives us their rendition of the Icelandic song tradition. The duo delighted audiences at the Reykjavík City Theatre with their take on Icelandic culture, and they will be at the Blueberry Music Festival this coming August.

Other artists performing at the Blueberry Music Festival are Eyjólfur Eyjólfsson, Edda Björk Jónsdóttir, Ave Kara Sillaots, Jón Þorsteinsson, Mikael Máni Ásmundsson, Marína Ósk Þórólfsdóttir, Ólöf Sigursveinsdóttir, Sigrún Valgerður Gestsdóttir and Sigursveinn Magnússon.

This family-friendly festival is free for guests 18 years and younger.
