Olga Vocal Ensemble is an a cappella vocal group consisting of five international guys and based in the Netherlands, with regular tours to Iceland and elsewhere around the world. This July 13th at 8 pm at Hafnarborg in Hafnarfjörður, Olga presents “It’s a Woman’s World”, a show about feminism - with music by women composers and iconic female artists, ranging from the medieval sounds of Hildegard von Bingen’s Gregorian chant all the way to Nina Simone and Beyoncé. Also featured are new compositions exploring different feminist themes, from gendered children’s clothes to mansplaining, with music by composers from the Netherlands, Estonia, and Iceland’s own Bára Grímsdóttir. Olga’s third and newest album, also titled “It’s a Woman’s World”, will be available for sale after the concert. The Olga singers are Matthew Smith (England), Jonathan Ploeg (Netherlands), Arjan Lienaerts (Netherlands), Pétur Oddbergur Heimisson (Iceland), and Philip Barkhudarov (Russia).
