Todmobile celebrates its 30th year with a celebration concert in Harpa on November 2nd. Todmobile’s special guest for this concert is Midge Ure, a singer and songwriter best known for his groundbreaking work with Ultravox. Also appearing is SinfoniaNord.

Todmobile released their first track in 1988. A year later their first album was released and now, thirty years later, they have released eight studio albums, a string of hit singles and have played countless concerts.

James “Midge” Ure was born in 1953 and enjoyed his first taste of success early with the Scottish band Slik, including reaching no. 1 in the UK with their single Forever and Ever. Ure also had a big hit with the band Visage and the single Fade to Gray before joining Irish rockers Thin Lizzy. He then formed Ultravox and was the main singer and songwriter on a string of their hits, including Vienna, Dancing With Tears in My Eyes and Hymn. Midge Ure wrote Do They Know It’s Christmas? in 1984 along with Bob Geldof and subsequently, again with Geldof, was the mastermind behind the legendary Live Aid concerts in 1985. The same year Ure launched his successful solo career with the no. 1 hit If I Was. Midge Ure was awarded an OBE in 2005 for his work in music and charity.

This is the fourth concert where Todmobile collaborates with their idols and main musical influences. This concert series started in 2013 when Jon Anderson of YES was their special guest. In 2015 Steve Hackett of Genesis played a concert with Todmobile and a year later Nik Kershaw took to the stage with the band. Now it’s Midge Ure’s turn, one of the 80s most iconic musicians in the UK. Midge recently released the album Orchestrated on which he performs most of his best known songs, accompanied by a symphony orchestra.

Todmobile, SinfoniaNord and Midge Ure will perform a selection of Todmobile’s, Ultravox’s and Midge Ure’s greatest hits on Nov. 2nd in the beautiful Eldborg auditorium.
