Tjarnarbíó Theatre and the Icelandic contemporary dance scene join forces to celebrate the coming of spring with a dance festival on the 12th – 15th  of April.  8 performances by 8 Icelandic companies.  Our Vorblót (e. Spring Fest) is marked by diversity where the boundaries between dance, theatre and music are disrupted in surprising ways.

The festival begins on Thursday 12th April with a premiere of the pop-opera Vacuum by choreographer Melkorka Sigríður Magnúsdóttir.

Friday the 13th will showcase two performances,  Wikihow to start a punk-band by artist and choreographer Gígja Jóns and I volunteer by choreographer and dancer Unnur Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir.

On Saturday the 14th we’ll welcome back the children’s show of the year 2016, Vera and the Water, a dance performance for younger children.  On Saturday evening there will be a final showing of the acclaimed Crescendo by choreographer Katrín Gunnarsdóttir followed by The PPBB, an energetic collective of two actresses, a dancer and a visual artist with a performance like no other.

On Sunday the 15th we bring to you Listening Party by Ásrún Magnúsdóttir, a lively party hosted by a big group of teenagers who play their favorite music to their heart’s content.  The festival’s final performance is the dynamic FUBAR by the choreographer Sigríður Soffía Níelsdóttir.

The festivities and partying will last the entire weekend and the Café/Bar will be open for business. It isn‘t often that we get the opportunity to experience many of the most interesting hightlights of the Icelandic dance scene in one place – so grab it! You can even buy a festival pass, valid for all of the 8 shows for a mere 8.900 ISK on tix.is and in the Tjarnarbíó ticket office.
