At Rauða skáldahúsið//The Poetry Brothel Reykjavik’s inaugural masquerade ball, poetry inhabits the guise of the masked ball “where every one hides his real character, and reveals it by hiding.” Join us for a night that fuses reality and the imagination, and cultivates intense intimacy through what’s hidden. 

Don your most luxurious mask (masks will be for sale on site) and delight in an evening of indulgence on November 10. Hide yourself under capes and veils. Inhabit the body of the poet, the scholar, the mistress, the madwoman, and experience the half-hidden truths of poetry in their most tangible expression: the mask.

We have a cast of eight poets for the evening to attend to your poetry needs, along with live burlesque dancing. The Keystone Swingers and Gleðikonurnar will fill the room with song and dance, while Snæugla, our resident witch, will offer up tarot readings, peering into your soul despite the mask. The burlesque and boylesque acts ofDömur & herra / Ladies & a gentleman will storm the stage.

Tickets are ISK 3,000. Students receive a 50% discount with a student ID. 

Private poetry readings are 750 ISK.
