Kirsten Johnson
USA 2016 / 102 min

Kirsten Johnson has shot tons of footage, travelling the world over decades. Here she exposed her role behind the camera and what emerges is a visual memoir and a testament to the power of the camera. We see a boxing match in Brooklyn, life in post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina, the daily routine of a Nigerian midwife and an intimate family moment at home – all woven together into a tapestry that explores the relationships between image makers and their subjects.

The film won the Grand Jury Award at the Sheffield International Documentary Festival and critics at Indiewire voted it the second best documentary of the year.
