Signora Langbrok

Op -play (.not an opera and not a musical...somewhere in between :) )

The most famous female character of the Icelandic Sagas, Hallgerdur Langbrók, Icelandic "femme fatale"

The show is performed by Elsa Waage. Piano accompaniment by Antonia Hevesi. Assistant Iris Sveinsdóttir

The show focuses on Hallgerdur Langbrók and her visit to Kaldalón Harpa in search of a haven. She has been roaming between earth and heaven for about 1000 years after being shut out in both Hell and Heaven.

Hallgerdur shares her story with the audience. She considers the "Langbrók" ( woolen long johns ) to be the basis of all her misfortunes.

If she hadn´t been constantly itching from those damn woolen pants she would have turned out much more loving and kind, instead of a temperamental, vindictive and quarrelsome "femme fatale".

She completely falls for the 20th century, the era of the nylon stocking.

She is confident that had she lived then she would have had become a diva such as Callas, Dietrich, Monroe, Piaf, Hepburn, and fellow Icelandic icons Elly Vilhjálms, Maria Markan and others.

These women all had nylon stockings in common!!!!

" Hallgerdur " is an entertaining narrative that intertwines the story of the Saga legend with the music of these more recent nylon DIVAS. She sings some of their most famous songs, combining both international and Icelandic music.

Duration: approximately one hour with no intermission
