The band Systur will be performing at Kaldalón 17th of October alongside treasured Icelandic singer/songwriter Lay Low and Portugal’s 2022 Eurovision entry, Maro.

Off the heels of a whirlwind Eurovision journey where they quickly landed themselves on the international music map with the haunting folk song “Með hækkandi sól,” Systur immediately began writing and recording their debut album, slated for release in 2023.

Their follow-up single “Dusty Road,” along with its music video counterpart, is a somber and reflective testimonial, with its gentle melodies, vulnerable lyrics, and rich walls of vocal harmonies. In addition, the band will be performing unreleased original songs from their upcoming album along with cover songs from some of their favourite bands/musicians (Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, Elliot Smith and Fleetwood Mac). Systur will be joined by the Portuguese folk artist Maro, and renowned Icelandic songwriter and musician Lay Low.

Systur forged a strong bond with Maro during their time together in Eurovision 2022, where she represented Portugal with her beautiful song “Saudade, Saudade.” Maro has played all around the world and is currently touring the United States with her new album “Can you see me?.”

Lay Low is one of Iceland’s most esteemed singer/songwriters and is also the author of Systur’s musical introduction to the world, “Með hækkandi sól.” It is safe to say that through Eurovision 2022, a fateful and beautiful creative collaboration and friendship between Systur, Maro and Lay Low was initiated and continues to thrive through the power of music and love.
