CAPUT Ensemble performs works by Icelandic, Swedish, Danish and Finnish composers at Nordic Music Days. 

CAPUT has quite a unique position in the Icelandic music scene; was officially founded in 1988 and has specialized in the performance of contemporary music since the beginning. Numerous Icelandic composers have written works for Caput, and the group has performed and recorded many masterpieces by older composers, as well as original compositions by the youngest generation. CAPUT has taken an active part in the musical life of the Nordic countries and Europe, and is often considered one of the main chamber groups of contemporary music in Europe, and as an Icelandic group, it has been a guiding principle to promote Icelandic music on the international stage. The group has participated in a number of Nordic and international collaboration projects. Caput has made recordings for many international publishing companies, including; BIS, Naxos, Deutsche Grammophon and Sono Luminus.

We are excited to welcome you to Nordic Music Days 2022 in Iceland. The festival takes place in the capital Reykjavík and the municipality of Kópavogur. Next to many concerts at various venues and in public spaces the rich festival program offers an exhibition of innovative instruments, a conference on global impact in the arts, concerts for school children and a workshop for young music journalists. ??The Nordic Music Days have been organized since 1888 as one of the oldest festivals for contemporary classical music in the world. The festival is unique in the sense that it is organized by the composers themselves. This years’ festival is organized by the Icelandic Composers’ Society.
