Coney Island Babies from Neskaupstaður and members of the Austurland Symphony Orchestra will join forces for a grand concert in Egilsbúð in Neskaupstaður on October 8. Selected songs from Coney Island Babies' studio albums will be performed in new arrangements by music producer Jón Ólafsson.

The band Coney Island Babies was founded in February 2004 in Neskaupstaður and is one of the oldest active bands in East Iceland. The band has released two albums, Morning to Kill (2012) and Curbstone (2020), both available on Spotify, and has performed a number of times at concerts and festivals in Iceland.


The East Iceland Symphony Orchestra was founded on May 10 2018 in Reyðarfjörður by seven East Icelandic musicians and its first concert took place on December 1 that same year at the Music Center in Eskifjörður.


This is the first time that members of East Iceland‘s Symphony Orchestra mix up with a rock band and it is safe to talk about a landmark event in the region‘s cultural life.

The concert is done in collaboration with Fjarðabyggð's Cultural Center (Menningarstofa Austurlands) and Austurland's Music Center (Tónlistarmiðstöð Austurlands) but in addition they benefit from the support of East Iceland‘s Structural Fund, municipality of Fjarðabyggð, Sparisjóður Austurlands and RANNÍS Music Fund.

Orkiestra Symfoniczna Austurland zostala zalozona 10 maja 2018 roku w Reyðarfjörður przez siedmiu instrumentalistów wschodniego wybrzeza, a jej pierwszy koncert odbyl sie 1 grudnia 2018 roku w Music Center w Eskifjörður.

o przelomowym wydarzeniu w zyciu kulturalnym na Fiordach Wschodnich.
