The deprivation of liberty, gender roles, love and cruelty are the main themes of Reykjavík Opera Days' production of Fidelio - an experiment, based on the only opera Ludwig van Beethoven wrote. The artists behind Reykjavík Opera Days have worked closely together in order to tackle this monumental piece with passion, experience and playfulness, using Daniel Schlosberg's arrangement for a small orchestra.

Leonore is looking for her husband, Florestan, that Don Pizarro, a horrible brute, has held captive for a long time. She disguises herself as a man, Fidelio, and befriends Don Pizarro's assistant, Rocco. Marzelline, Rocco's daughter, falls in love with Fidelio while Jaquino, a guy who's in love with her, does everything he can to get her attention. Meanwhile, Florestan is waiting to meet his fate
