Event info

Often, when thinking about Robert Schumann’s life, we tend to be drawn to focus on his more eccentric qualities, his mood swings, drama surrounding his and Clara’s relationship, or even the sickness that caused his premature death. Sometimes, we forget what a pioneer he and Clara were, and the beautiful relationship and collaboration they maintained. They encouraged each other. Each supported the other’s artistic development, career and growth.

Marriage Bliss focuses on their partnership and communication, their home and family. Through important sources such as their correspondence and biographies, we will dive into what was needed in order to live as an artist in their time, to live off of art for art’s sake, and how important the support they had from their partnership was, which connected them so immaculately.
