Event info

The concert has been cancelled due to assembly regulations in Iceland. Please note that ticket holders can exchange their tickets for other orchestra concerts later in the season. Should this not be feasible, the tickets can be refunded through the Harpa Ticket Office.

The Iceland Symphony performs Symphony no. 40 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart under the baton of Daníel Bjarnason and the young Icelandic soprano Álfheiður Erla Guðmundsdóttir makes her debut with the orchestra. Álfheiður has fascinated audiences by her stunning voice and expressive musicianship. Currently a master’s student at the Hanns Eisler Conservatory in Berlin, she has taken part in numerous masterclasses by world-renowned singers, such as Anne Sofie von Otter and Emma Kirkby, as well as Renée Fleming at a Carnegie Hall workshop in 2019. Álfheiður has performed at the Berlin Staatsoper and will debut as the Angel in Messiaen’s Saint Francois d’Assise at the Basel Opera in October.

This concert also features Mozart’s ever-popular symphony no. 40 in G minor, a pathbreaking work in its own time, and written only three years before the composer’s tragic death.
