At this Iceland Symphony's television concert at Harpa Concert Hall the orchestra performs works by Richard Wagner, Benjamin Britten and Joseph Haydn under the baton of Eva Ollikanien, Iceland Symphony's Chief Conductor and Artistic Director.

Wagner’s charming Siegfried Idyll is his only frequently performed instrumental work, composed as a birthday present to his wife Cosima after the birth of their son in 1869. Haydn composed his Symphony no. 85 for a concert series in Paris in the year 1785 to high acclaim. One of its admirers was Marie Antoninette and for that reason it is popularly known as La Reine (The Queen).

Benjamin Britten was one of Britain's leading composers in the twentieth century. Lachrymae is a fascinating reflection on a song by that master of the Renaissance lute song, John Dowland. Þórunn Ósk Marínósdóttir is Iceland Symphony's viola section leader.

Watch the Iceland Symphony Orchestra on the orchestra's website, www.sinfonia.is, the orchestra's Facebook page, or on RÚV 2 (Icelandic TV).
