The concert has been cancelled due to assembly regulations in Iceland. Please note that ticket holders can exchange their tickets for other orchestra concerts later in the season. Should this not be feasible, the tickets can be refunded through the Harpa Ticket Office.

Maximus Musicus is the Iceland Symphony’s most extensive educational music project. It has been extremely successful, both in the form of several different concert programmes and illustrated books with CDs. The first story, performed at this concert, tells of a mouse that loses his way and finds himself at an orchestra rehearsal, experiencing the fascinating sounds of the symphony orchestra. The music accompanying the story includes Maurice Ravel’s Bolero and Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man. The stories of Maximus have received several awards and been translated into many foreign languages.

The author of the Maximus tales, the Iceland Symphony's leading flutist Hallfríður Ólafsdóttir, passed away in September 2020. The stories are illustrated by Thórarinn Baldursson, a violist in the Iceland Symphony Orchestra.
