The year 2020 is Beethoven’s 250th anniversary, and to celebrate this the Iceland Symphony presents a concert largely devoted to his works. Iceland’s piano superstar, the award-winning and much lauded Víkingur Ólafsson, plays the dramatic Piano Concerto no. 3, and Eva Ollikainen, the Iceland Symphony’s recently appointed Chief Conductor, conducts other lively works by Beethoven. Also, Víkingur and the Iceland Symphony strings perform Philip Glass’s haunting Glassworks.
