Whatever the Weather is a contemporary circus show that examines the relationship between the weather and ourselves. Weather has always been a major factor of life in the northern latitudes, but modern technology, transportation, and culture has minimized the direct effect of weather on our daily lives. Nonetheless, Icelandic culture is permeated by this first and last topic of conversation, and as we look to the future in a changing climate it is even more important to consider the connection we have to the natural world and its variability. Circus is visual and captivating, and reaches audiences of all ages, independent of language. Acrobatics, risk, comedy, aerials and poetic imagery weave together stories of the weather and our lives.

The show will be performed in Tjarnarbíó, as well as outdoors around the country in the summer of 2021.

The Hringleikur Circus Company was established in 2018 by a group of circus artists in Iceland with the aim of developing the circus scene in the country and introducing Icelanders to the possibilities of the circus arts.

The show is made in cooperation with Miðnætti theatre company.
The show is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Uppbyggingasjóður Austurlands and the City of Reykjavík.
