Event info

The Iceland Symphony Orchestra has returned to making music in the Harpa Concert Hall, and its concerts in May and June 2020 will be broadcast live on Icelandic television (RÚV) as well as streamed on the orchestra's website (sinfonia.is). With the relaxation of the current assembly ban, the Iceland Symphony can once again have a live audience at Harpa Concert Hall.

Víkingur Ólafsson is one of the most celebrated pianists of his generation. He was recently voted Gramophone Magazine's Artist of the Year, and his latest release on Deutsche Grammophon, Debussy / Rameau, has received outstanding reviews. Víkingur will perform one of Mozart's loveliest piano concertos, no. 23 in A major, as well as the short and beautiful work by Jean-Philippe Rameau from his latest album. The concert concludes with the ever-popular Allegretto from Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, one of his most popular creations ever since the composer's own lifetime.

Daníel Bjarnason is the Iceland Symphony Orchestra's Principal Guest Conductor and has a long-standing association with the orchestra, having previously served as its Composer-in-Residence. He recently conducted the orchestra's successful tour of Germany and Austria, which included concerts in Salzburg, Berlin, and Munich.

Ticket sales for the concert
In accordance to local health regulations and to ensure the safety of our patrons, the Eldborg concert hall in Harpa has been divided into several areas, each with a specific maximum capacity, and thus ticket availability to these concerts is limited. To ensure space between guests, one empty seat will be reserved between each ticket order, but each order can consist of one single ticket or two side by side. We also offer seats that ensure a distance of 2 meters on all sides, but these tickets must be booked through the Harpa ticket office, tel. +354 528-5050.

Watch the Iceland Symphony Orchestra live from the orchestra's website, www.sinfonia.is, the orchestra's Facebook page, and on RÚV, Thursday June 4 at 8 PM.
