Gods by Lukasz Palikowski is the story of the early days in the career of acclaimed heart surgeon Zbigniew Religa, who performed the first successful heart transplant in Poland in 1985. Gods is also a tribute to an outstanding individual who dared to change the existing rules. By removing a heart from a human body, Religa broke a moral, cultural and religious taboo. Several decades ago, a heart transplant was commonly perceived as an act against nature.
