After Leviathan (Golden Globe Awards, Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language) Andrey Zvyagintsev once again depicts a brutal and pitiless humanity — fragile, broken — in this uncompromising portrait of the struggles of a loveless family.

Loveless competed for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. At Cannes it won the Jury Prize and the Jury being lead by film director Pedro Almodóvar.

It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards.
