In Ukraine, about 300 km from the conflict zone in the east, is the small town of Mirgorod, the birthplace of the poet Nikolaj Gogols. The filmmakers visit the city to get acquainted with it’s famous water and why it was one of the best-known health resorts in the former Soviet Union. During their trip they meet locals who bring out both the facts of history and the mood of the past centurie’s in war and peace.

Among interviewees are refugees from the Donetsk region, an artist and the city‘s mayor who explains the unique quality of the water and its significance for the city. The audicence come also across a group of people preparing an outdoor festival and have a glimpse into a theater. This documentary shows many new faces of a country at war.
